Woman Found Dead Along Trail In Hyattsville

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police are investigating after a woman was found dead along a hiking trail in Hyattsville.

Police said in a statement that the woman was found dead along the Northwest Branch Trail on New Year's Day. Police identified the woman Saturday as 20-year-old Catherine Alvarado of Hyattsville and said her death does not appear to be a random act. Police say she had trauma to her upper body.

An investigation is ongoing, and police say reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case.
