What to do, O's fans?
Honestly, I do not come from a better place, a better city or a better anything or anywhere -- but I have never covered a team that has not only started the season with a 2-12 record but I've never covered a team with so m any injuries and qut question marks.
Baltimore is such an awesome city, Camden is such a beautiful ballpark and some of the young guys on the team can be exciting to watch. But I'm curious, Orioles fans ... with Pie and Roberts out for an extended period of time, the back end of the rotation not performing (Brad Bergesen was optioned to Triple-A this morning), base-running blunders, fielding errors and lack of hitting especially with runners in scoring position.... are you all hopeful the O's can turn the season around? Will you still go to Camden Yards and watch basball, even if you're going to see the visiting team?
Last night's game was tough to watch. It was. The only positive I pulled from that game was Jason Berken's relief apperance. Berken, who threw 3 1/3 scorless innings in relief of Bergesen (he allowed three hits and recoreded three strikeouts), has been the light at the end of the tunnel for the O's pitching staff. If only the starters can go a little deeper and the offense can give em some run support the O's may just have a few more wins under their belt.
In any event, I'm going to stay positive. I have to. Giving up now is simply not an option. I came into this city with high hopes for this team and if they can get on a hot streak, with the struggling Red Sox and the rebuilding Blue Jays still in the division, there's still a chance they can finish with a decent record.
