Western Md. District Names Interim Schools Chief

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Washington County school board has chosen an educational consultant as interim superintendent.

The board voted 5-2 Tuesday to hire Stan Schaub of Fayetteville, Pa.

The four-month contract will pay him $12,000 a month from March through June.

The board plans to hire a new superintendent by July 1 to succeed Elizabeth Morgan, who is retiring.

School board President Wayne Ridenour says Schaub won't apply for the permanent job.

Schaub is a former Montgomery County school administrator. He served in the first half of 2008 as an acting deputy superintendent in Washington County.
