Welcome Back, Carters! Beyonce & Jay Z Tour Is Coming To Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- It's official! Superstar super couple Beyonce and Jay Z are going on a summer tour together, and they're making a stop in Charm City. Mr. & Mrs. Carter's "On The Run Tour" will stop at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium on July 7.
Christie Ileto has more.
"Fabulous," said one fan.
City officials estimate the concert will draw more than 70,000 people to M&T Bank Stadium, generating tens of millions of dollars in economic impact.
"It's literally bigger than a Ravens football game in terms of the people who are coming and what people are spending before and after the game," said Michael Evitz, Downtown Partnership.
City officials say the concert will bring big dollars to the city, especially to businesses in neighborhoods like Federal Hill, which sits just next to M&T Bank Stadium.
"Any time there's a stadium act, we see increased business," said Ryleigh general maanger Josh Foti.
Like Jay Z and Justin Timberlake's concert last summer and U2's 360 tour in 2011.
Foti says it's a bigger boost in foot traffic to an already busy business.
"We'll get people who will stop in before the concert--have dinner, oysters," said Foti. "Crazy, packed to the wall all day. It was really exciting."
And the excitement for the Carters is already brewing. Officials are banking on another sold out concert to boost Baltimore's bottom line.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday through Live Nation. Members of Beyonce's fan club will have access to presale tickets at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. For more details go to beyonce.com/tour.
