WEATHER BLOG: Sandy Today

We have a mild day today and there can be some sun this morning as the moisture that was trapped in the lower levels of the atmosphere has decreased. High and mid clouds will also be streaming in well in advance of Sandy.

Clouds will thicken up tonight and by tomorrow we will see the first drops in advance of Sandy and rain at times.

The wind will pick up some tomorrow (gusts to 30 possibly by the end of the day) and more tomorrow night
(Gusts to 35-45 MPH Sunday night and Monday). As SANDY approaches, late Sunday night into Monday night looks like the period to focuson the heaviest rain and strongest winds. (Gusts could exceed more than 60 MPH and 80 MPH at the shore)... BUT STAY TUNED FOR ANY CHANGES IN THE TIMING AND FINE TUNING OF THE TRACK..

Current feeling is that while Tuesday will be windy, there is less chance for damaging winds...also expect less rain. However, it will remain windy and wet as the storm moves away to the North and Northwest.
