WEATHER BLOG: Muggy Night Leads To Warm Day

After a pretty muggy night, we have a warm day on the way today before some cooler air moves in for tomorrow and Saturday. Most of the area picked up 0.5 to 1 inch of rain. Now, the bulk of the rain has moved off to the north and east.

With such a mild start this morning, temperatures should get into the 70s for a time today. Much of the day will turn out dry with some sunshine as much drier air moves in. A secondary cold front will go through dry late this afternoon, which will help to usher in some cooler air for tonight.

Tomorrow will be a pretty sunny day as high pressure builds in from the west. High temperatures tomorrow will generally be 10-15 degrees lower than today. Tomorrow night will be chilly, and Saturday will be a day where temperatures struggle to get out of the 50s despite sunshine.

High pressure will move off the coast on Sunday, and we'll watch a cold front move in from the west. This front does not look like it will have a whole lot of moisture to work with. Nevertheless, the risk of a shower has become high enough to put into the forecast. That being said, it's important to emphasize that the majority of the day will be dry despite the clouds.

The Monday/Tuesday forecast has been the thorn in our side for the past few days, but it appears that it's becoming somewhat clearer this morning. The key to the forecast will be an upper-level disturbance tracking across the Southeast. There is more model consensus that the disturbance will move off the Southeast coast, far enough away to leave us dry early next week. High pressure building eastward out of the Ohio Valley should assist in deflecting any rain away. We'll keep an eye on it, but for now we'll go with a dry forecast. If there are any showers that sneak up from the south, they would most likely be Monday night.
