WEATHER BLOG: Latest Winter System Is Here

A glance at this morning's radar reveals our storm next storm, which is streaking snow across the Ohio Valley and into our area. This system will track snow… sleet… freezing rain… and eventually drizzle into the greater Baltimore area today into tonight. ROADS CAN BE TREACHEROUS TODAY/TONIGHT!

Details and timing:

Snow is arriving through noon; quickly mixing with and changing to sleet and freezing rain between noon and 3 PM from south to north; ice ending between 10 PM and midnight, ending as freezing drizzle or plain drizzle thereafter. Type… Snow/sleet to start across the viewing area, changing to ice early in the afternoon and continuing through the evening Accumulation. C-1" in the City with icing, 1-3" north with icing, coating south of the City with some icing Impact. Icy roads Sunday and Sunday night; remaining slick for the Monday morning commute Clouds will break for sunshine on Monday as high pressure builds in from the west. With downsloping flow and March sunshine, watch for overachieving temperatures on Monday afternoon! Tuesday looks to turn out mostly dry with increasing clouds, though another storm will impact the area in the evening and at night. Right now, it looks to be a snow/ice to rain type scenario, perhaps ending as some snow Wednesday night. A more tranquil weather regime will follow thereafter.

-Tenth to a quarter inch of ice could be on the roadways. Temps stay near freezing today before climbing overnight.
-Monday should finally get above freezing. Temps near 40° on and should help melt things down.
