WEATHER BLOG: A Good Soaking

A slow moving storm system is going to give most of Maryland a good soaking. Showers and even some thunderstorms arrived from Carroll County west Sunday afternoon. Then, a more solid rain and drizzle spread across the state overnight. There is going to be rounds of rain, drizzle, and even some thunderstorms moving our way on and off through early Wednesday.

The center of this storm is still down to our southwest Monday afternoon. We are getting rain and drizzle most of Monday, but the rain could pick up and we may even get some thunderstorms later Monday through Tuesday. The storm will try to get out of here on Wednesday. However, it's such a slow mover that we do still expect to see some showers and maybe even a thunderstorm or two as sunshine mixes with the clouds.

Drier air will return for the second half of the week. Expect beautiful days Thursday and Friday. There is another storm that will be over the Upper Midwest on Saturday. It looks like it won't get here until Sunday or Monday.

It's a cooler day outside with highs only topping out close to the average of 73 degrees. Temperatures will creep up a few degrees Tuesday, but then top out in the low 80s Wednesday with some sun returning. The drier air will also initially be cooler on Wednesday. Highs will drop back to the mid 70s Thursday before slowly climbing toward the weekend.

ATTENTION TEACHERS, STUDENTS, AND PARENTS: We have been working on the Weather Field Trip Day program and are excited that it's just over a week away!!! The fun-filled day is set for Wednesday, May 23. You can still get tickets. Click here for more information.
