WEATHER BLOG: A Big Change

Saturday is the better day of the weekend with mild temperatures and some sunshine. However, we do have the front approaching from the west, and although a lot of the moisture, at least as far as the rain goes, will "dry up" as the front comes eastward and the energy lifts well to the north, we will have a fairly cloudy period later Saturday morning into the afternoon when a brief shower cannot be ruled out.

The downsloping breeze should keep most places dry. We partially clear out later Saturday afternoon and evening behind the front, but the flat wave of low pressure we have been talking about with the upper level energy coming eastward into Pennsylvania will bring clouds streaming back in overnight. This upper level disturbance will cause the flow to back enough to allow a good slug of rain to spread over our area from southwest to northeast late Saturday and once arriving, the rain will continue through the afternoon. Readings will probably hold near 50 and perhaps even fall into the 40s with the rain Sunday. Amounts will probably average 0.25-0.50 of an inch. As the wave passes to the southeast, clouds will break and it will be chilly Sunday night.

High pressure will track ENE across Pa. and Monday and provide some sunshine, though there will be some high and mid clouds with a short wave that is passing by to the south. High pressure moves off to the northeast toward Atlantic Canada Tuesday, but remains ridges SW into the area so sunshine and a milder afternoon will be the rule. An upper level trough will send one front across our areas later Wednesday or early Wednesday night with some clouds and perhaps a shower, then another front will cross the area Friday morning, again with some clouds and perhaps a shower. Neither of these fronts look to be very moist. There will be some warming ahead of the first front Wednesday with a gusty southwesterly breeze. Then temperatures will be trimmed back Thursday behind the front with high pressure promoting some sunshine. It may be another breezy day Friday with the second front coming through. High pressure looks to build in for Saturday.
