Baltimore Firefighters Extinguish Flames At Port Covington Cruise Ship Terminal

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A fire broke out at a construction site near a cruise ship terminal in Baltimore's Port Covington neighborhood Monday, the Maryland Port Administration said.

Firefighters were called to the area around 12:30 p.m. and were able to quickly put out the blaze.

The fire was located next to the terminal's breezeway connecting to the boarding bridge that connects to a docked ship.

The port administration is adding a new insulated roof to the breezeway. Construction materials being used for that project caught on fire.

Chopper 13 was over the scene where you could seen firefighters working to control the flames.

Black smoke billowing over the area was also reported.

At this time, officials are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the port administration said the fire will not impact the next cruise to dock in the city, which is scheduled for Thursday.
