Violence Issue In NFL
I understand the NFL's desire to cut down on the shots to the head in the NFL because of the risk of injury. But can it really work? It's a violent game. People are paid to hit. Instinctively, you hit. To really legislate change, you have to do it every level. Eric Legrand, from Rutgers, was paralyzed from the neck down this weekend because he led with his head making a tackle. It looked fairly routine; what a tragedy! For me, you can take the violence out of the game, and I'll be fine with it. I'm skeptical that the NFL can really pull this off. What happens when a team loses a game because a defensive player didn't hit a receiver hard enough in the endzone because he's afraid of a fine?
