Vincesanity Seems Pretty Sane to Me

Last night as I was watching the Orlando Magic waste away another incredible season, I thought to myself "I may have just witnessed the end of Superman". No not Dwight Howard, as he has so famously titled himself but Vince Carter. THE Vince Carter who jumped over a 7 Foot human being at the Olympics! THE Vince Carter that set the league on fire in 1998 on his way to winning the dunk contest in what could only be described as in "MJ Or Dominique" fashion. That year, excitement surrounded the event in a way the league had not seen since the battles between his airness and the human highlight reel. During this period, the league was still struggling to find a way to manage in a post Jordan world. Vince Carter flying through the air and dunking ON and even OVER defenders wowed viewers, as they quickly began to address Vince as Vincesanity. Unfortunately, for people like myself whose interest in the league returned because of this, Vincesanity was layed to rest last night. As Vince Carter stood on the foul line with 2 shots in what could have been his biggest moment could not find a way to sink any of them. His team was down by 3  points in a game they absolutely needed, and unfortunately for them remained down by 3 when Carter was finished at the line. Carter's night was not much better as he went 5-15 for 16 points. Ironically for Vince, he was as irrelevant last night as he's been for the last 5 years. Sad to see guys as I speak for the majority of the people in my age bracket when I say "Nobody flew through the air like Vince". But at the end of the day if you can't make your free throws, who cares?
