Violent neighborhood dispute in Dundalk leaves two men hospitalized
Two men were hurt after a shooting and stabbing incident took place in Dundalk on Friday afternoon.
Baltimore County Police said several suspects have been detained and will face charges in connection with the crime. Police have not released their identities.
Officials said they responded to McShane Way around 3:30 p.m., where they found a 41-year-old man shot and a 56-year-old man who had been stabbed. Medics sent both men to the hospital, where, as of Saturday evening, the 41-year-old remains there with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are investigating the moments leading up to the shooting and stabbing to determine the motive.
On Saturday afternoon, WJZ reporter Kaicey Baylor didn't hear much besides the breeze and an ice cream truck passing by in what neighbors describe as a usually quiet neighborhood on McShane Way.
"This is the typical atmosphere," Ronald Miller, a Dundalk resident, said. "Typically, our neighborhood is really quiet."
On Friday afternoon, some neighbors who witnessed the scene told WJZ that Baltimore County Police blocked off the street after what they described as an argument turned violent at one of the homes.
Some said that one of the individuals threw a chair, breaking the front window of the home where they said the shooting happened. Ronald Miller wasn't home at the time, but he said when he got to McShane Way, he was approached by a police officer seeking information.
"It's a little unsettling, you know what I mean?" Miller said.
"I just think people don't care no more; they ain't smart," Dundalk resident Emon Reliford said. "You know, ain't thinking about other people's lives, who they affect."
As the investigation continues, neighbors are finding some peace after hearing police have detained multiple people.
"Makes you feel a little more comfortable about the situation, you know what I mean," Miller said. "But at the same time, you want to see people treat each other better."
Investigators said this appears to be an isolated incident, adding there is no active threat to the community.
