Training Center To Be Dedicated For Fallen Soldier
REISTERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland National Guard will rename a training area for a fallen soldier.
Sgt. 1st Class Collin Bowen died in March 2008 as a result of injuries he received while fighting in Afghanistan. He was the first Afghanistan casualty for the Maryland National Guard.
On Wednesday, a training facility at Camp Fretterd in Reisterstown will be renamed the SFC Collin J. Bowen Warrior Training Center.
Hundreds of soldiers have trained there, including Bowen himself. Activities at the site include combat simulation, military rappelling and weapons simulation.
