The Closer Situation

Alfredo Simon joined the Orioles yesterday giving Dave Trembley some much-needed bullpen help. However... the manager is NOT ready to name his closer. He said yesterday, "There is no closer right now for me. Who wants it? Somebody take it."

Trembley also said that until he finds the right combo (setup guy, closer) he will keep making moves until he finds a combo that works.

When asked last night why he used Simon in such an intense situation, Trembley said "At this point I have nothing to lose. You never know until you give somebody the opportunity."

Before the start of the game, Trembley spoke with Simon and when the manager asked how he was feeling, Simon responded, "I'm not afraid." And that's all Simon had to say to get the ball last night.

O's resume their play against the Yankees tonight at Camden Yards where they'll go for their third-straight win.
