The Best Time of the Year

OK, it's a given. The Orioles' season has been a disaster. No need to beat a dead horse on that subject. They're horrible, and will be darn lucky if they don't finish the season with the worst record in MLB. This magnifies the opening of Ravens Training Camp.
Fans here are tired of all the losing. They want to feel good about rooting for the hometown team. The Ravens give them that chance.

On monday, I was in Westminster, doing some live reports in advance of the first workouts. If you remember, it was kind of cool that day with low humidity. Just the type of weather that puts one in a football frame of mind. As we were setting up our live shot from the practice field, I saw the pristine grass, the blocking sled, the lines on the field, the bleachers set up for the fans. All of these things filled me with excitement. Football season is back, and it feels good. Very good...
One day, the Orioles will return to contention. I'm convinced of this. When that day comes, we can all enjoy a late summer/ early fall in which both Baltimore teams are playing meaningful games at the same time.
I long for that day, and I know you do too.

For now, we can latch onto the Ravens, and the shared communal spirit that they bring.
