St. Mary's College Floating Dorm Sets Sail

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. (AP) -- A floating dorm that housed students at St. Mary's College of Maryland for nearly two months has set sail.

Students moved out of the Sea Voyager last week and will reclaim their old rooms in residence halls when they return to campus next month. They had been living on the ship while the college repaired a mold problem in their dorms on land.

The school had initially placed the 240 students in hotels. But the hotels were far from the campus, so the school brought in a cruise ship. The cost of the stationary cruise was $20,000 a day, about what the school had paid for the hotels.

The cruise ship left its dock at the school's southern Maryland campus on Sunday.
