St. Joe's Delivers Bundles Of Christmas Joy

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--A number of families in Baltimore are celebrating extra special gifts this Christmas.

At St. Joseph Medical Center, babies born on Christmas Eve and Christmas day are dressed in red, green and white holiday caps—and swaddled in red and white holiday stockings.

Adam May reports some people got the best gift this Christmas.

They're new parents.

Shia Elizabeth is one of a handful of Baltimore's Christmas babies.

"She was actually due the day before Christmas," said new mother Amanda Ford, "We were hoping she'd be here before so she can enjoy the day with us, and she made it."

"We have been really busy lately," said Nicki Rogers, St. Joseph Medical Center.

Nurses at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson are seeing more babies this holiday season.

"They're exciting," Rogers said. "They're a special gift on a special day."

Dressed in a Mrs. Clause outfit, baby Torrin changed her parents' view of the holiday.

"Me and my husband aren't really Christmas people," said Tiffany Strawderman. "We're like 'oh God, it's Christmas," but now we have a reason to celebrate, so it will be much nicer for us."

"It's really a lot better now," said Jeremy Strawderman, "We have her, and it's the ultimate gift."

The Edwards had their first child.

"It's the best gift ever," said Nehemiah Edwards.

A sentiment echoed by all there.

"She's my Christmas present," Ford said. "She's all I needed. I got what I wanted."
