South Beach or Cleveland, Ohio?....Exactly
As I'm sure everyone that may read this already knows, Lebron James decided during some great programming last night titled "The Decision" that he was "taking his talents to South Beach." Agree or disagree with the way he went about broadcasting his decision, the decision in itself was the absolute correct one.
In Cleveland where once beloved #23 jerseys were left to burn in the very streets Lebron called home, the sentiment may not be the same, as the City has become the jealous ex-girlfriend watching her boyfriend leave the party with another woman. As I am completely removed from the situation, I'm not emotionally invested in his decision so in my opinion leaving a city like Cleveland for the sand and sunny skies of Miami is a no brainer. Not only was this a great basketball decision, but as I've visited Miami and could attest to myself, it was a dynamite personal life choice. The marketing the combination of a star of Lebron's caliber and a city with the reputation of Miami could be nothing short of a dream scenario for Lebron's business partners. Whether you love or hate the decision made by Lebron last night, it was clear that he didn't make it with money being the key issue. As was the case with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, Lebron James took the rare pay cut in order to insure the team had a legitimate chance of winning and winning for many years to come. From Lebron's point of view this team has shown it can win as just 4 years ago Dwayne Wade brought a title to the city. This title of course was obtained without his "talents", and in Lebron's eyes the potential for another could only grow with him. Reports leaked last week that the Cavaliers were in position to do a sign and trade with the Raptors that would have brought Chris Bosh to Cleveland instead of Miami. Lebron, who's heart was in Cleveland at the time, tried to persuade Bosh to join him, with Bosh declining as apparently Cleveland was not much of a step up from Toronto. South Beach though is an entirely different experience and just be may described as a step up for both men. 'At the time' was the key phrase in my earlier statement describing Lebron's pitch to Bosh, as the 'now' has his heart in Miami. More importantly for Miami so is that 6-8 250 pound frame.
