Shooting At Funeral Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured; Funeral Was For Teen Killed In August Shooting

BALTIMORE CO., Md. (WJZ) -- Police say one person is dead and another is in grave condition after someone opened fire at a funeral in Baltimore County Wednesday afternoon that was being held for an 18-year-old shooting victim.

The Baltimore County Police Department got a call just before 12:45 p.m. about shots fired in the 3900 block of Hollins Ferry Rd. in Lansdowne, near Mount Zion Cemetery.

Investigators found that there was a shooting after cars arrived at Mt. Zion Cemetery for a funeral. Shots were fired just before the service started after police say there was some kind of disturbance.

Two men were shot, according to police. One victim died at the scene, while the other injured man was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries.

WJZ has confirmed that Wednesday's funeral was for 18-year-old Marcus Brown, who was fatally shot on August 25 on Mount St.

Authorities said they believe the shooting was targeted to Brown.

"We believe there were at least 2 guns that were involved, we believe there were two shooters," said Officer Jen Peach, spokeswoman for Baltimore County Police.

EMS also transported one other person who was suffering chest pains.

Lansdowne High School was on lockdown status for about an hour, but the lockdown was lifted just after 2 p.m.

Carlos Medina said he heard the shots ring out.

"This world is getting crazy because we got a funeral right here, then plus somebody else got shot? That's crazy," Medina said.
