Roberts out, Lugo in

Greetings from Camden Yards...
Dave Trembley told us pregame that Brian Roberts is day-to-day with that strained oblique. Although the 2B is out of the lineup, Trembley did say he is better than he was yesterday. Roberts saw a doctor during Friday's home opener and it's not as severe as they thought.

According to Trembley, even though Lugo will get the start today, that does not mean he will be BRob's replacement.

"I will not say Lugo will be the guy," Trembley said.

Trembley also said it's tough not having Roberts in the lineup and its hard to write down nine names in nine spots. Trembley will have more information for us tomorrow.

The manager also commented on his struggling closer Mike Gonzalez who has been the main topic of Baltimore baseball since he blew his first save in Tampa. The manager is sticking behind his $12M closer.

"I would caution everyone not to give up on Gonzalez. We've played four games. The guy has pitched and he's been good and wanted the ball.

However, if a save opportunity arises tonight (Saturday), Trembley will NOT give the ball to Gonzalez.

"It won't be Gonzalez," Trembley stated. "He's been pushed the past four games."

Trembley also told us he and pitching coach Rick Kranitz sat with Gonzalez and went over film from last season... Trembley said he does not believe pressure or injury has caused Gonzalez' struggles but rather a difference in mechanics and arm angle.
