60-year-old man, 76-year-old woman injured in Baltimore Fells Point robbery

A 60-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman were injured after police said they were assaulted and robbed Tuesday morning in Baltimore's Fells Point neighborhood.

Baltimore police responded around 9:30 a.m. to the 1700 block of Fleet Street for a reported robbery.

Officers spoke with the victims, who said they had been assaulted and robbed by an unidentified male suspect.

Police said the suspect assaulted both victims and knocked them to the ground before stealing a wallet from one of them. The suspect then fled toward South Regester Street.

Police described the suspect as having a brown complexion and wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants with white stripes.

Employees at neighboring businesses told CBS News Baltimore that the man and woman left Broadway Market after having breakfast when they were attacked.

Police said the man is in stable condition, while the woman remains in critical condition.

Fells Point residents said the most alarming part of the incident was that it happened in the morning, in broad daylight.

"It's jarring because it's crazy here on the weekends," Fells Point resident Rolf Taylor said. "I don't go out after 10 p.m. But this was first thing this morning, so that is a little scary and I think a bit unusual. Usually when there's trouble here, it's late at night."
