Road Closures Mark Md. Marine's Last Trip Home
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is closing some ramps and sections of Interstate 70 and U.S. 15 to provide for the dignified return of a slain U.S. Marine from western Maryland.
The agency says the roads will closed for up to 15 minutes around midday Friday for a police-escorted transport of the remains of Lance Cpl. Maung Htiak from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to the Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick.
The 20-year-old Hagerstown resident died last Saturday in combat in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
His family plans a funeral service Saturday in Frederick, followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery on Jan. 18.
