Ravens Rookies Dine on Humble Pie

Coach John Harbaugh told us that the first couple of days of training camp are for rookie orientation in preparation of the full squad arrival and practice on Friday.  Served up at the team dining hall:  a couple of slices of humble pie for two hot-shot rookies.  Sadly, top draft pick Sergio Kindle will miss all of training camp after an off-field accident led to his fracturing his skull (a development that Harbaugh referred to as a "disappointment").  Then, Ravens second draft pick Terrence Cody was held out of his first workout because "Mount" Cody (350 lbs. +) failed to pass his conditioning test. Maybe this type of "orientation" is what some of the young ones need to get their attention and remind them that they're in the big leagues now and they are held to a higher standard.  Maybe it's good, too, that these less than pleasant developments come as the Ravens are being touted league-wide as a Super Bowl favorite.  The injury to Kindle is not a good thing on any level, I should say.  But these two rookie wake-up calls may be a good way to temper the nonsense and hype as the Ravens seek to focus on the business of training camp and getting ready for a season ahead.
