President Obama on opening day

We talked about the President's first pitch before yesterday's Nationals home opener. The basic facts are this:
He is invited to throw out the first pitch because he is the President
He wore a Nats dugout jacket as is tradition when you're in the home stadium.
However, he took a White Sox cap out of his glove to show his loyalty to HIS team So far so good ...right? I mean you're allowed to root for your team if you're a fan, nobody should have a problem with that right??? I think it's great that he would show his loyalty to his Sox. BUT...
That's where it breaks down for me. He has been wearing the Chicago gear since day one touting how much of a Sox fan he is while hammering the point home by contrasting the Cubs vs. the Sox. So why when he was asked who his favorite White Sox player was from his childhood he stammered and stuttered and dodged the issue totally.
He went on to talk about he liked the Cubs too (without naming any players) and dodged further by saying he grew up in Hawaii and was an A's fan. Huh????
I got tons of calls from pissed off listeners who backed the President and while I respect their opinions I question their objectivity. Are you guys kidding me?
A real fan would know most of his team's players and a casual fan would know at least one ....correct? Look it may not be the end of the world but I'm really tired of politicians trying to make themselves regular guys. Just be real , how about that? I'm not going to beat this to death but I just want my leaders to be honest, is that too much to ask?
