Prince George's Apartment Complex Being Razed
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Officials in Prince George's County have begun the process of tearing down a vacant apartment complex.
Officials say the Chapel Wood Apartments in Coral Hills has been a blighted complex and public safety hazard and needs to be razed.
County officials started the demolition process during a ceremony Thursday morning. They say the complete demolition will take about six weeks, at the cost of about $585,000.
The demolition is part of Baker's Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative, which targets quality-of-life concerns in six areas of the county.
