Police: Man, 47, Shot In Chest In Southeast Baltimore
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A 47-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in the chest in Southeast Baltimore overnight, police said Tuesday.
Officers were called to a shooting reported near the intersection of Mount Pleasant Avenue and South Conkling Street just after midnight, according to police. While searching the vicinity, they found the victim conscious with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 3700 block of Claremont Street.
Investigators suspect the victim was trying to park his car in the 200 block of South Conkling Street when a dispute broke out between him and two other men. Things turned violent when one of the men pulled out a handgun and opened fire at the victim's car, hitting him in the chest, according to police.
The victim managed to drive away before seeking help nearby. He was taken to the hospital where, at last check, he was listed in serious condition.
In a separate shooting reported about an hour later, police were dispatched to MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital after a 28-year-old man walked in with a gunshot wound to the thigh.
The victim gave inconsistent accounts of where the shooting happened, according to police, and there were no reported shootings in the area.
