Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Hit And Run

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) ---- A pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a vehicle in Glen Burnie. Rick Ritter has more on the investigation and what type of car police are looking for.

The call came in just after 6 p.m. Thursday night. Sky Eye Chopper 13 was on the scene of the deadly hit and run.

"It's very sad because this is supposed to be a time of joy and togetherness with your family," Linnea Sivells, of Glen Burnie, said.

Police said the vehicle was going northbound along Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard near Marley Meadow Lane in Glen Burnie.

The vehicle struck and killed 67-year-old Linda Lea Suski, who was using a walk to cross the street.

"We have to tell a family tonight that their loved one is gone and the person who did this is out in the streets as we speak," Lt. T.J. Smith with Anne Arundel County Police Department said.

A rear-view mirror of the car that took off was found on the scene.

"When you lose a side view mirror and you get damage to your vehicle, you know you hit somebody, you know you hit something," Lt. Smith said.

It doesn't take long for police to match it with a similar vehicle's mirror.

Now, investigators are searching desperately for either a Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer in a silver or off-white color.

"If the person doesn't want to turn themselves in, they need to know we're coming after them and we're not going to stop until we find them," Lt. Smith said.

Neighbors pray for justice for a family dealt a tragedy just before the holidays.

"You just took somebody's loved one and you need to pay for it," Sivells said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Anne Arundel County police at 410-222-8610.
