Pay The Man, But Don't Pay THAT Man
OTA's have started around the league, which is an interesting time for certain players. Not only can you grade your players on talent and potential, but as has been in recent years, you can grade them on Prima Donna level.
As in the case of players like Terrell Owens and Brandon Marshall, you'll find their prima donna levels to be through the roof. Hence Brandon Marshall's temper tantrum's last year, and new contract this year. For some players it works, and for others, as in the case of Diva wideout Michael Crabtree, it doesn't. Well this offseason there are 2 immensely talented players with contract disputes. Each of which have decided to take separate paths in order to get their new deals. Chris Johnson, who last year rushed for over 2,000 yards, has threatened to hold out through training camp. Pretty Ballsy for a 3rd year player I'd say. Interestingly enough, as he was rushing the ball for a team with a .500 record, he received some MVP support around the league. The support came from Hall of Fame Prima Donna Deion Sanders so take that for what it's worth. Now what his incredible season was worth was 8 victories and at the end of the day, owners pay for wins and not yardage. On the other hand Andre Johnson, a player with equal value for his team, in good faith showed up to OTA's. With the fear of injury keeping big name players off of the field Andre Johnson, whose name is as big as they come, chose to show up. I don't know who you would rather line up next to, but I'd go with Johnson. Not that one but the other one.
