Parisi Blog Number 2...
So i just wrapped up week 2 of my Parisi Speed School Training at Lifebridge. The big difference from week 1 to week 2 is the warm ups. Last week it took me around 40 minutes to do the warm ups. This week we sped them up and i finished in about 25 minutes. As i stated in my last blog, the warm up feels like a work out by itself. After we finished with the warm ups we had plenty of time for me to push myself to my breaking point. I told my trainer Hakeem, if he hadn't been there i probably would have quit ten minutes in. I had no idea that i could finish a workout like that. We worked on a ton of change of direction exercises. My legs were burning and shaking in the end, but i finished and i can feel myself getting more comfortable with the workout . I also feel like I'm getting a better understanding of why the smallest things matter when it comes to increasing speed. The slightest movement can help increasing speed in change of direction. I'm learning a lot but I'm also becoming a better athlete.
At the end of this week, this old mans body felt wrecked. Especially in my shins. For over 7 years i have had awful shin splints. I cant run on a treadmill and some surfaces are just unbearable. In talking to some of the trainers, they informed me that i should switch my shoes. I just purchased a new pair of cross trainers. I had no idea, that something as simple as getting new shoes could be so complex and also make such an improvement in how my body feels.
