Opening Day Experience
Well... today didn't disappoint. It's my first Opening Day here at Camden Yards and everyone has been very welcoming. I got to the ballpark early around 10am to get acclimated... and it was COLD and WINDY. Not fun... right, gals? I had a chance to speak with Brian Matusz about his outing last night against the Rays, so hopefully you'll all get a chance to hear it today on The Fan. I had a nice talk with Kevin Millwood as well. Boy his accent is strong! He was really nice and we both talked about being new to Baltimore and the ballpark. He said he didn't know his way around either so we had something in common. Matusz looks about 14, no joke. If you didn't hear the interview you can log onto www.masnsports.com to see the video. He seems like a good kid and after talking to him for about five minutes I already know I'll be pulling for him this season.
I made my first "appearance" at the Bud Light Warehouse as well and was able to meet some Orioles fans. You guys are awesome! Everyone seemed hopeful this is the year the team turns things around. Thanks to Bruce Cunningham and of course I have to mention Mark Zinno, my fellow Italian for having me on their show. Bruce even let me read the lineup which thus far has been the highlight of my day.
I then did a quick TV interview with Mark Viviano on the field and if you saw it please don't tell me my hair was blowing complete across my face.
Of course I managed to eat two massive crabcakes... Boy you people know how to do it right, don't ya? Good stuff.
Since we didn't get much access to players today, I will be back here tomorrow gathering information from the clubhouse, pre and post game, so make sure you tune in and log on for everything Ori0les!
