Suspect In Elkridge Theft From Store Shot, Wounded By Police After Hitting Their Car

ELKRIDGE, Md. (WJZ) -- One suspect and two Howard County Police officers have nonlife-threatening injuries after several people who stole items from an Elkridge store Monday afternoon tried to flee and hit their car when police confronted them.

The suspect, whom police did not identify, was released from Shock Trauma.

One officer was taken to Howard County General Hospital, and his condition has not been released. The other officer was treated at the scene.

Officers learned the suspects had open arrest warrants from other jurisdictions when they stole a large amount of merchandise from a store in Elkridge. They found the suspects around 3 p.m., followed them to the EZ Storage in the 8200 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup, where they saw them with the stolen items.

The suspects tried to drive away and hit a police car, police said. Officers shot and wounded the driver.

The suspects' names and charges will be released when the information is available, police said.
