On Crime...

On the show, we had a discussion about Mark's plan today to return to running in Druid Hill Park after he was assaultd there two weeks ago..I have to give Mark kudos for returning, fearlessly, to his normal routine and while he was uncomfortable about all of the media coverage over the incident, I want to bring it up here in this forum to remind everyone to please go about your normal ways, live not in fear, but live with awareness to take pre-caution and know your surroundings at all times..It was also revealed today that Bulldog was the victim of a burglary at his home last night and while the guys joked that bad things happen in three's and I would be next..I already know how that feels.. I was victim of an attemptd assault and robbery outside of a convenience store one night by some chick who pulled a boxcutter out of her beehive hairdo and demanded that I give her a ride and my cell phone..As she swung her knife at me and as we fought over my cell phone, I managed to make a run for it and locked myself in my car and called the police..The police apprehended her and arrested her a few blocks away.  Much thanks goes to the police and their swift work in obtaining these criminals and attempting to make our streets safe, but I can't give any thanks to the court sytem that gave this lowlife, who had a lengthy previous record, a slap on the wrist and put her back out on the streets to continue to take advantage of law abiding citizens.. I admire Mark's courage today, but because of my incident, I have this heavy weight on my shoulders of taking extra precaution every time I venture out in my neighborhood, community or city.  I don't feel safe and it bothers me.. Why should I have to walk around looking over my shoulder at every pace?  Why should I have to even think about carrying pepper spray or even a taser that we joked about buying on the show?   The problem is that our system is failing us..We need to stop putting these repeat offenders back on our streets!  But since that is our reality, here are some tips via The Mark Viviano Show and on behalf of Baltimore's finest to help keep you safe when it comes to crime..
