O'Malley Submits Supplemental Budget
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley has submitted a supplemental budget to make up for millions of dollars in deficiencies.
State budget analysts updated members of the House Appropriations Committee on Friday about the budget revisions.
One of the deficiencies resulted from lower-than-expected slot machine revenue. O'Malley's supplemental budget includes about $12.8 million for the state's Education Trust Fund to make up for the revised slot machine money.
The supplemental budget also addresses deficiencies in child care funding, after federal money that had been expected did not materialize.
Meanwhile, lawmakers on Friday are scheduled to continue to work out differences in the state's $34 billion legislation between bills passed by the House and Senate with the supplemental budget in mind. The conference committee is expected to work this weekend as well.
