Officials Announce Tax Help For The Poor
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland officials will be gathering to talk about free community tax services for low-income families.
Rep. Elijah Cummings and Rep. John Sarbanes, who are both Democrats, are scheduled to attend the event in Baltimore on Tuesday.
Comptroller Peter Franchot and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake also are scheduled to attend.
The event is in its 11th year. The program's staff and volunteers aim to prepare 9,000 tax returns for free this year for eligible taxpayers.
The program is conducted by the Baltimore CASH Campaign. It will provide services at 20 sites in Baltimore city and Baltimore County.
