Nonprofit To Build Playground At NIH
BETHESDA, Md. (AP) -- A nonprofit that builds playgrounds for children in need is bringing its volunteers to the National Institutes of Health.
The group called KaBOOM! will build a playground Monday at the Children's Inn on the NIH campus in Bethesda. The Children's Inn is where families stay while seriously ill kids receive treatment and participate in medical research.
Employees of the Inn and staffers from pharmaceutical company MedImmune will help build the playground.
The long-term goal of KaBOOM! is to ensure that every child in the United States has a place to play within walking distance.
