No More Momma Jokes in Cleveland?
ESPN.com NBA Writer J.A. Adande just joined us on The Scott Garceau Show and I couldn't help but think that somewhere David Stern, Commissioner of the NBA, is smiling ear to ear.
Though I am sure this will be short lived, as this period just after the NFL Draft and before training camp is the slowest news wise, the NBA has THE premier sports story. This Lebron "where will he, or wont go" situation is a sportswriter's dream, and will give every sportswriter ink for weeks to come. Daily this story gets better and better as today there was a report that now links Kentucky head coach John Callipari to Lebron in the always popular player-coach "package deal". Jordan had Phil, Magic had Pat, Kobe had Phil and….. Lebron had Callipari? I don't know but I feel it's interesting and for a league in need of "the interesting" any addition to this juicy piece of gossip can only be positive. The league is filled with talent, but is Kevin Durant really interesting? Does Dwight Howard's quest for a championship intrigue you? In less than a week this Lebron issue has went to places that no legitimate news story should, the downright weird. A report released by the website terezowens.com stated teammate Delonte West, 26 was having an affair with 41 year old Gloria James. The obvious being the difference in age which is just that, different. But with that said, this isn't that big of a deal is it? Except when Gloria happens to be Lebron James's mother! Yea, this stuff just got personal folks and the mother jokes could get really interesting in practice. Not a daily routine, if I'm Lebron, I'd like to continue. So, let's stick to knock knock jokes guys. Now if these rumors prove to be true, the state of Ohio and Cavaliers fans around the world can put their blame on one person's shoulders. Their current losses fell on the shoulders of Lebron James but their future struggles can be placed at the doorstep of one Delonte West. The same Delonte West that averaged 25 minutes per game with 8.8 pointless points to go with it. So I must ask, was it worth it? Even if Delonte is dismissed, the reports state that the rest of the team was aware of the affair. That is of course, everybody but Lebron. And I expect everybody BUT Lebron to be in Cleveland next year. Knock Knock, who ISN'T there?
