New York Times Technology Columnist Gets iPhone Back

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. (AP) -- Call it technology or good old fashioned police work, but the technology columnist for The New York Times has his phone back after some help from a Maryland police department.

David Pogue was leaving an Amtrak train Monday night when he realized his iPhone was missing.

He tried calling the phone and using an Apple app, Find My iPhone, to locate it. But the phone was turned off. Pogue stewed for three days until Find My iPhone sent him an email saying the phone had been turned back on in Seat Pleasant, Md. The app also sent a map.

Pogue contacted the Prince George's County police department and posted the map to his 1.4 million Twitter followers. Police eventually found the phone in the backyard of a home.
