New Frederick Superintendent To Have Lower Salary
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The next superintendent of the Frederick County Public Schools will have a lower salary than her predecessor when she takes office July 1.
The county school board released details of Theresa Alban's contract Thursday. It calls for earnings of $205,000 per year. That includes a base salary of $185,000 and $20,000 to be invested in a retirement fund. She will also receive a car allowance of $750 per month.
Current superintendent Linda Burgee makes nearly $242,000 per year in salary and benefits. She has served as superintendent for seven years.
Frederick County's Board of Education named Alban to the top schools post this week. She has been chief operating officer of Howard County Public Schools.
Officials say the lower salary reflects that this is Alban's first superintendent position.
