Myersville Fire Company Chief Resigns
MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The chief of the Myersville Volunteer Fire Company is stepping down after less than a year on the job, citing a dispute with fire company administrators over financial records and a company roster.
The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that Stephen M. Reid submitted a letter of resignation Sept. 4. Reid was appointed chief in January. He told the newspaper he had made repeated requests for records, but they were denied.
Fire company member Mark Hinkle said Reid's allegations against the company are false. The fire company's president and vice president declined to speak about Reid's resignation.
Doug Orner, director of volunteer fire and rescue services, says Justin Clipp has been appointed to take over for Reid.
