MVS NFL Power Rankings: ALLISON RANKS! WEEK #1
ALLISON RANKS! : Week 1
1. New Orleans Saints – The Saints scored the lowest amount of points they've scored since Sean Payton became their coach, but the 14 was enough to hold off a listless Vikings offense.
2. Green Bay Packers – The Packers embarrassed the Eagles at the Linc, but Ryan Grant being lost for the season is going to hurt
3. Baltimore Ravens – Any time you can go into a hostile environment and win is a major feat. The Ravens defense proved they are still dominant and in the words of Terrell Suggs, "Rex created this beast and now he has to deal with it."
4. New England Patriots- The Patriots came out firing on Sunday. Brady showed no negative effects of his car accident or of his inflated head due to his new contract.
5. Indianapolis Colts- Despite Manning's 433 passing yards, the Colts defense surrendered 260 rush yards and lost an important game to a division rival. I guess there will be no talk of a perfect season this year.
6. Houston Texans- The Texans have been trying to close the gap between them and the Colts and they proved on Sunday, they've gotten much closer. Arian Foster ran for 231 yards with 3 TDs. Wow!
7. Tennesee Titans- Chris Johnson is 142 yards closer to 2500 and he didn't do it alone on Sunday. Vince Young threw for 2 more TDs as the Titans throttled the Raiders.
8. Minnesota Vikings- AP better be ready to run and run and run (and hold on to the ball) if the Vikings will have any shot this season.
9. Miami Dolphins – It wasn't dominating, but a win's a win especially against a division foe on their turf.
10. New York Giants- Eli countered his 3 INTs with 3 TD passes to Hakeem Nicks
11. San Diego Chargers – Rivers could not lead the Chargers into the end zone on the final drive although he had first and goal on the 4. The Chiefs didn't roll over for the Chargers like they normally do.
12. Pittsburgh Steelers- The Steelers D won the overtime game on Sunday for the Steelers. What a difference Troy Palamalu makes.
13. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys continued their putrid offense ways against the Redskins Sunday night. Penalties ruined their chance of a last second win.
14. New York Jets- More penalty yards in the first half, than offensive yards is a recipe for disaster. Mark Sanchez looked scared all night and the Jets might have Revis, but the rest of the secondary looks suspect.
15. Cincinnati Bengals- Maybe T.O. and Ocho should stay on the field until the whistle's blown. The Bengals looked flat in every facet of the game in the first half.
16. Washington Redskins- The Redskins will have to figure out what to do with Haynesworth so he doesn't disrupt their defense which looks like it might hold the key to their success. They beat a division rival Sunday night without scoring an offensive TD.
Bottom Feeders: I decided to change it up this week and give out some individual bottom feeder awards…These were off the top of my head, I'm sure there were many more.
Mark Sanchez: looked completely scared and overmatched Monday night
Dustin Keller: I know Ray Ray hit you hard, but it was one more step for a first down
Atlanta punter Michael Koenen: overtime is not the time to shank a punt on the Steelers turf
Alex Barron: the most penalized player from last year had a holding penalty on the Cowboy's last drive to win the game.
Calvin Johnson: sure looked like a TD, but you have to know the rules
Philip Rivers: First and goal at the 4 at the end of the game and you don't score? In Kansas City?
Let me know what you think about my picks and let us know what your order is. Have a great week guys! - Allison
