Morgan State University Hosts 'The Color Purple'
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Morgan State University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts is presenting the musical, "The Color Purple."
Performances began Thursday and will run through Sunday.
The show highlights Celie, a poor African-American girl, who finds triumph and resilience after a series of personal tragedies.
The musical is based on the novel, "The Color Purple" by acclaimed author Alice Walker.
The show features music and lyrics written by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.
