More Military Explosives Found At Southern Md. Park
LEONARDTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say more explosives have been found along the shoreline of a state park in southern Maryland.
The state fire marshal's office says its bomb squad found eight artillery rounds Tuesday during an underwater survey at Newtowne Neck State Park.
The St. Mary's County park was closed to the public last week after the discovery of military ordnance. It will remain closed until officials determine it is safe for public use.
The fire marshal's office says the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is continuing to investigate the origin of the ordnance.
