Mikulski, Cardin To Speak At Sandy Hearing

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Maryland's two U.S. Senators will be on hand for a hearing that examines the federal response to Superstorm Sandy.

Wednesday's hearing of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security will include testimony from HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. Senators whose states were hit by the storm, including Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin of Maryland, are also scheduled to speak.

Mikulski says she'll call for aid to communities on the Eastern Shore that are still suffering the effects of the storm. Many shore communities were flooded, including low-lying Crisfield.

Cardin says he'll talk about the need to invest in protecting vulnerable areas from future storm damage.
