Meet The Girls From 'Jersey Boys'
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Many have heard of the "Jersey Boys." But few know it is three women who help tell the story.
Weijia Jiang spoke with the trio you'll see a lot of while the production is at the Hippodrome.
The Broadway hit "Jersey Boys" may feature four men, but it also stars three leading ladies, "The Jersey Girls."
"The women in the show get to do everything. We act, we sing, we dance, so you have to be a triple threat," said Kara Tremel, cast member.
A quadruple threat if you factor in speed. All of them play 15 to 19 characters each.
Backstage, their "quick change" rooms never see a dull moment.
"I don't actually think the audience realizes we're the same three girls, continually running in and out of the scenes," said Denise Payne, cast member.
In fact, one change is so quick the girls only have 15 seconds to get into a robe, change their wig and shoes, and get back on stage.
"You have somebody helping you. You grab earrings, necklace, then you run out," said Tremel.
On stage, the three girls help tell the story of how Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons came to be.
"It's a true story about music people love," said Payne.
"It never stops. It's bam, bam, bam. There's no time to clap, or think, or breathe, or remember you're at a show," said Candi Boyd, cast member.
It's a show that boys and girls of all ages will love, whether they're from Jersey or not.
You can catch the "Jersey Boys" and girls at the Hippodrome through Feb. 27.
