Md. Trooper Hurt In 2-Vehicle Crash

GREENSBORO, Md. (AP) -- Maryland state police say a trooper was seriously injured when his cruiser hit overhanging equipment on a tractor-trailer.

Cpl. Michael Lesniowski was in critical but stable condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The accident happened Monday about 10:15 a.m. when the cruiser was traveling west on Whitelysburg Road. A tractor-trailer, driven by 49-year-old Dalton Jackson of Chestertown was traveling in the opposite direction and was carrying large construction equipment.

The vehicle had warning signs and flags indicating it was carrying an oversize load.

Jackson was not hurt in the crash, which is under investigation.
