Md. Teen Charged After Bullying Caught On Camera

BRUNSWICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick County officials say a 15-year-old boy has been charged with assault for bullying a high school student who was about to be interviewed on the subject by a television news crew.

The teenager, who has not been publicly identified, has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.

The incident happened Monday when Preston Deener, a Brunswick High School sophomore, was preparing to be interviewed about bullying by a television news crew. Deener, who has said he's been bullied for years, was approached by three other students, pushed, struck in the back of the head and chased across the street.

Authorities say they believe Monday's act of bullying was isolated and not related to past bullying instances.

Community members held an anti-bullying dance on Friday night.
