Md.'s Hood College Gets $1M Gift From Late Alumna
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Hood College in Frederick has received a generous gift from a deceased graduate.
President Ron Volpe said Monday that Shirley Conner Hardinge left her alma mater $1 million for international programs.
Volpe says the private liberal arts college will use the gift to establish a global studies center.
Hardinge was 87 when she died May 10 in Hagerstown.
She graduated from Hood with a degree in French in 1944 and spent much of her professional career in Hagerstown with Fairchild Aircraft and automotive dealer Sharrett Inc.
