Md. Prayer Service Kicks Off Victims' Rights Week

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- The Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention is holding prayer services around the state to kick off National Victims' Rights Week.

The services are scheduled Sunday in Baltimore, Centreville, Waldorf and Westminster.

The agency says the events will bring families and friends of crime victims together with counselors and public officials to honor those who lost their lives to violent crime.

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is holding a number of other public events across Maryland this week to raise awareness of victim services.
