Md. Olympic Champ Runner Tweets He Was On Deadly Australian Theme Park Ride
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- An Annapolis native who became the first American runner in more than 100 years to win gold in the 1,500 meters in Rio this summer says he was on the Australian theme park ride that killed four people moments before the deadly accident.
Matt Centrowitz tweeted his disbelief shortly after the incident.
According to local news outlets, it was an adult brother and sister and two of their friends who were killed when the River Rapids ride at Dreamworld in Coomera malfunctioned.
